SONATA Board consists of five Directors:

Executive Directors
Mr. Anup Kumar Singh, Mr. Ashish Kumar Gupta and Mr. Rakesh Dubey who have been involved in the micro-finance sector in different capacities.

Mr. B V Ravi Narsimham

rakesh_dubey Director - Investments Bellwether Microfinance Fund, is a professional of about 15 years of experience in Research and Microfinance. He was part one of the founding team members of BASIX. Before the inception of BASIX, he was part of the study team led by Mr. Vijay Mahajan that conducted several important studies including the Study of Rural Non-Farm Sector in India. After his long stint with BASIX, he left BASIX as Area Manager to join CARE. In CARE, he spent years working in the Credit and Savings Project as Manager Research & Innovations and later as Microfinance Specialist in the Sustainable Livelihood Empowerment Project. To his credit one of the significant innovations Narasimham has initiated while in CARE was the Money Remittance System for Oriya Migrant workers in Gujarat. His article "money talks and money walks" on Money Remittance received wide acclamation. With Bellwether, Narasimham has been associated since September 2005 and currently he represents Bellwether as Director in three of the investee companies.
Narasimham completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar in 1993

Mr. Ajit Varma

rakesh_dubey Executive Director, Operation Smile India acting as Independent Director. An alumni of the Madras Christian College, Ajit brings with him more than 25 years of experience in Advertising and Brand building. His leadership skills and passion for people have seen him excel in various capacities from an account manager on Unilever at Lintas Mumbai (now Lowe) to Business head and 'Owner of the people process' at Bates Mumbai. Ajit remained with Bates as the Mumbai business head till 2002 when he moved to JWT APAC to head JWT Indonesia and later became the Director in charge of Lux for APAC at JWT Bangkok.
Today, Ajit remains passionate about building and nurturing vibrant and effective institutions that inspire people to discover and channel their own unique potential. The past 15 months has seen him follow his heart into a totally different space. He now runs an International medical NGO called Operation Smile which focuses on the issue of Clefts.
