GF provides funding, technical and technological assistance to micro-finance institutions (MFIs) in order to facilitate the expansion and capabilities of the MFIs to provide loans and other financial services to help the poor, mostly women, start self-sustaining businesses and escape poverty. GF's global network of MFIs has already reached more than 2.7 million families in 22 countries.

  • - Centre for Micro Finance, IFMR : The Centre for Micro Finance aims to systematically research the links between access to financial services and the participation of the poor in the larger economy, and participate in maximizing access to financial services and its impact for the poor through research on microfinance and livelihood financing, research-based policy advocacy, high-level training for practitioners and institutions, and strategy-building for microfinance institutions. It is part of the Institute for Financial Management and Research which is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 in Chennai.
