Anup Kumar Singh :: Managing Director

Anup SinghMr. Anup Kumar Singh is one of the pioneers in Microfinance sectors having More than 15 years of experience to his credit. He is presently serving as the Managing Director on Sonata’s Board. His contributions are bringing glory to Sonata day by day. He from the very inception of the Company contributed his proficiencies in and to manage the day to day affairs and the operations of the company. He strives hard to increase the volume of loan portfolio and monitoring overall working of the company to fulfill its mission and vision. He guides and sets the pace for its current operations and future developments.

Besides above he periodically reviews Sonata’s ongoing polices for the better development. The Company owes to him for his invaluable contributions that lead Sonata to build reputed presence in Micro Finance Sector, it is the result that he designated as Managing Director in July 2009. Being a managing director he sets the business strategies and structure of the company and reviews and evaluates present and future opportunities, threats and risks in the external environment, current and future strengths, weaknesses and risks relating to the company. The zeal and enthusiasm with which he is bringing in new ideas and concepts, the company will reach the zenith soon.

Mr. S . Ganesh :: Independent Director

S.GaneshMr. S.Ganesh was a Principal Chief General Manager at the Reserve Bank of India and has over 32 years' PAN India experience, including a decade’s experience at Senior Management Level. Ganesh has led large teams and has handled many important assignments at RBI across a range of functions / positions including Bank Regulation and Supervision, Banking Ombudsman, Regional Director, Faculty Member and Principal of the Reserve Bank Staff College.

He was also the RBI Nominee Director on the Boards of UCO Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce. Ganesh is currently an Additional Director (Non-Executive Director) on the Board of BSS Microfinance Private Limited, Bengaluru. Ganesh holds a Master’s Degree in English from Bangalore University and is a Certificated Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He is also a holder of two diplomas in Business Management and has a Trainer Certification in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

Anal Kumar Jain :: Independent Director

Anal JainMr. Anal Kumar Jain has over 40 years experience in top management positions in major international and Indian IT Companies including over 6 years experience in the field of Microfinance. Among his key accomplishments are - leading Wipro Infotech's marketing to IT Industry's leading status, building and leading IBM's business in India after their re-entry into the country, and starting and leading Sun Microsystems business in India. He started his career in early 1970s with IBM India, Anal has been a part of the India IT story, steering companies through unchartered waters and with fabulous success. Anal was Vice President - Marketing with ORG Systems, Vice President - Sales & Marketing with Wipro InfoTech, Head - Domestic Businesses of IBM India, President - South Asia of Sun Microsystems India, Chairman & CEO of Linc Software Systems, CEO of Birlasoft Ltd, Managing Director - South Asia of Network Appliance India.

Anal Jain has been active in the field of Microfinance for over 6 years. He has been Advisor to Sa-Dhan, the National Microfinance Industry Association. He was formerly Co-Founder and Managing Director of MicroVentures India, a Private Equity fund focused on the Indian Microfinance industry. He serves on the Boards of a few Microfinance Institutions. Anal Jain is involved with many activities around entrepreneurship.  He is involved with mentoring several IT companies through Nasscom, TiE, Bodhi Technologies, Linc Software Systems. He has completed M.S. (Electrical Engg) and Research Fellowship from Brooklyn Poly, New York City, USA  and B.Tech. (Electrical Engg) from IIT Kharagpur, Merit Scholar each year at IIT. He was General Secretary of the Electrical Engg. Society, among other positions.

Chandni Gupta Ohri :: Independent Director

Chandni GuptaChandni Ohri is CEO of Grameen Foundation India (GFI), She previously served as Director for Asia programs at Grameen Foundation, advancing their mission in India and Pakistan over the last six years and providing a mix of financial and technical support to a number of microfinance institutions over that time. Chandni completed her MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM Bangalore), and a Masters in International Development from University of Washington, Seattle. She is a native of India and fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi.

Mr. Kenneth Dan Vander Weele :: Director

Kenneth Dan Vander Weele Mr. Vander Weele serves as the Chief Investment Officer of Creation Investments. He is a founding board member Creation Investments Social Ventures Fund I and was instrumental in the establishment of Creation Investments’ model and pipeline. Mr. Vander Weele was the President of the Investment Services Division at Opportunity International, a global microfinance network. In this role, Mr. Vander Weele was responsible for the development and oversight of all commercial MFIs institutions within the network, garnering over $1 billion in assets over his tenure. From 2000 to 2008, he was in charge of investment banking services to procure debt and equity capital to finance development and growth of commercial microfinance institutions, overseeing feasibility studies, research, due diligence and financing of MFIs in emerging markets. He was responsible for the management of the Opportunity Transformation Investments (OTI), an investment fund that he helped establish and that has made investments in microfinance institutions in Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Pacific, and the Caribbean, and the development of its investment philosophy, policies and strategies. He also is credited for the creation of new MFIs and the successful conversion of non-governmental institutions into microfinance banks.

Mona Kachhwaha :: Nominee Director

Mona KachhwahaMona has 23 years of financial services industry experience, which includes 10 years with Caspian Impact Investment Advisers (2007 to present) and 13 years with Citibank India (1994-2007).

At Caspian she manages the India Financial Inclusion Fund (IFIF), a USD 89 Mn social impact fund with a focus on financial inclusion. Caspian is an investment advisory firm that invests capital in socially responsible, multiple bottom line businesses delivering financial and social value. Caspian manages impact assets of over $150 million across two equity funds and one debt fund. Over the last 10 years Mona has served on various corporate boards as a nominee director of Caspian Funds.

At Citibank India, Mona worked in a variety of roles in the Global Consumer Bank, which included Risk Head (Mortgage Business), Business Head (Microfinance Business) and Regional Credit Head (Personal Loans). She was also part of the ‘Citi Suvidha’ startup team in 1997.

Mona graduated in Mathematics (Hons.) from Delhi University (1992) and holds an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur (1994). She completed an executive program in Private Equity from Said Business School, Oxford University, in 2010.

Mr. Prakash Kumar ::Nominee Director

Prakash KumarShri Prakash Kumar is General Manager at SFMC, SIDBI, Head Office, Lucknow, since, June 2015. Prior to his posting at Lucknow, Shri Kumar had been In-charge of the prestigious Poorest State Inclusive Growth (PSIG) Project being implemented by SIDBI with support from DFID, UK. He held this position from May 2011-May 2015. He has more than 20 years’ experience in SIDBI in areas such as SME Financing, Microfinance, Recovery and NPA Management, Business Process Re- engineering etc at the Head Office and Branch Levels. Prior to joining SIDBI, he also worked for 2 years at Biotech Consortium India Limited, a company promoted by DBT, GOI and All India Financial Institutions.

He is a Graduate in Chemical Engineering from IIT Delhi and Postgraduate in Financial Management from the NMIMS, Mumbai.

Mr.R. V. Dilip Kumar ::Nominee Director

Dilip KumarMr. Dilip has been with SIDBI Venture Capital Limited (“SVCL”) since its inception in 1999 and was part of the core team which had set up SIDBI Ventures, SIDBI Trustee Company and National Venture Fund for Software & IT Industry. He represents SVCL on the Boards of some portfolio companies, where he has played an active role in building up systems and processes, strengthening financial management and corporate governance.
Prior to joining SVCL in 1999, Dilip was with SIDBI for nearly 8 years with experience in credit appraisal, accounts and audit functions. He is a Post Graduate in Commerce and Economics, AICWA, CS (Inter), PGDBA and CAIIB.

Mr. Pradip Kumar Saha :: Independent Director

Pradip KumarMr. Pradip Kumar Saha, aged 63 years was the former Chief General Manager of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and has more than 37 years of experience in Development banking. He started his banking career with IDBI and then with SIDBI till his retirement in December 2013. During his long career in IDBI and SIDBI, he has discharged diverse responsibilities in the areas of Project Finance, Asset Recovery, Human Resources Management, MSME credit and Micro Finance etc. At the time of his retirement, he was heading SIDBI Foundation for Micro Credit (SFMC) and Promotion and Development Department of the Bank.

As a Development Banker, he was involved in the formulation of various Development programmes and policy level intervention initiated by SIDBI and had been a member of various Committees of the Bank at the highest level. He was trained and attended various Management Development Programmes organized by reputed establishments like Harvard Business School, (USA), Asian Institute of Management, Manila and Cranfield School of Management (UK) and Boulders Microfinance Programme in Italy. He had represented SIDBI in various industry forums and seminars/meetings and was instrumental in the design and implementation of CDR packages for MFIs. He was part of Indian SME delegation to USA in the year 1999 and also led a MSME delegation to the World Expo in Hongkong in the year 2008. In the past he served as a Director in 4 MFIs and at Present, he serves as a Director on the Boards of 2 Companies viz. Bandhan Bank Ltd and Fusion Microfinance (P) Ltd. He also represents Credit Guarantee Trust for Micro & Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) in the Eastern and North Eastern Region of the country.

Mr.Aditya Mohan ::Nominee Director

Charles MiddletonMr.Aditya has nearly a decade of experience in inclusive finance, and is currently Senior Investment Officer for Asia at Triodos Investment Management where he oversees a portfolio of debt and equity investments that includes financial institutions and agri-enterprises. He earlier served as an Investment Officer at BlueOrchard Finance, where he managed a debt portfolio of financial institutions in South and East Asia. Aditya began his career in microfinance as a Product Manager with Ujjivan, a small-finance bank in Bangalore, India. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.

Mr.Benoit Monsaingeon ::Nominee Director

Benoit MonsaingeonMr. Benoit Monsaingeon, (MBA in Economics, Paris University), is a French citizen who has been active in Finance since 1970. After 9 years with Bank of America, he joined Paribas and exercised executive responsibilities in Spain, Gabon, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Greece and between 2000 (merger between Paribas and BNP) until 2006 he has been responsible of BNP Paribas in Portugal. When retiring from BNP Paribas in early 2007, he launched and chaired an association called Micro Finance Sans Frontières -MFSF- developing volunteer technical assistance in favor of MFI around the world (Africa, Asia, Central and South America, Europe). Given the development of MFSF (several hundreds of missions in more than 35 countries, creation of various local structures in the US, the UK, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, different African countries etc..., identification of hundreds of volunteers within BNP Paribas), BNP Paribas increased its involvement through the secondement of several persons working for MFSF (which changed its name in 2013 into BenevoLab). Mr. Benoit decided to resign as chairman in 2016 after almost 10 years of volunteer involvement and he has been replaced by an active executive of BNP Paribas. During the period during which he chaired the association, he developed his knowledge in microfinance around the world. Between 2013 and 2017, BM has been volunteer independent Director of Finca DRC in Kinshasa at the request of Finca USA, DC. This "field experience" gave him the opportunity to help Finca's Congolese subsidiary to develop its activities. Mr. Benoit is Knight of the French Légion d'Honneur, Knight of the French Ordre du Mérite and Officer of the Gabonese Ordre National du Mérite.
